The max heart rate is generally 210 minus your age. Your resting heart rate is generally between 70 and 75 when your heart rate hits around 130 you start to sweat. If your fitter your resting heart rate is lower and you sweat at a lower heart rate. The more mass you have IE. the more you weigh the more work you do, the harder the heart has to work. The higher its rate the quicker you reach the sweat point. A sixteen stone man running a hundred meters is doing twice the work of an eight stone women running the same distance in the same time. If her heart rate never quite reaches her sweat point the man being twice her size with the same fitness will almost certainly reach his sweat point.

Some people sweat easier than others. Chubby people tend to sweat easy but I believe sweating may be genetic.

Has he been training longer, or is he in better shape?

My personal trainer told me the better condition the quicker to sweat. I didn't sweat either but now I do, boy do I ever.

Genetic. Your metabolism is probably different, so he builds up heat faster than you do and excretes the heat via sweat. Also depends on how hairy he is--hairy guys get hotter faster, the fur keeps heat in.
