the FREEDOWNLOADHQ.COM was not mentioned. it showed the adobe reader logo, and it said free download. that's all. i definitely did not give my credit card no. to them. it was a site from my church, and i wanted to read the bulletin. that's all . so they said it was a free download ,which i downloaded. i was not told that I had 7 days in which to cancel .i never knew that this would be charged to my credit card. when i called them, they said that i missed the deadline to cancel , then she said have a nice day. for 52.92 i could have had a great day. the credit card co. would not let me dispute it. because it was past the cancellation time of 7 days. so what course to take now? this was as sneakey as they can get, i wonder if adobe knows what they are doing? because that is a free download in reality. i am really angry about being taken by a sleasy outfit as that one.

I'm trying to put the dots together and something isn't right, any pay program requires you to to give a valid CC#, they gave you a seven day grace period to accept or decline their program. If you didn't give them a CC# how did they get it? The grace period has expired and unfortunately that makes you liable for payment.
The other thing that puzzles me is that the claim cannot be disputed, sounds like you had a contractual agreement with adobe.

The thing with adobe and many other program downloads is that they have both a free version and a pay version. Heres another kicker you can go to one link and get a download free and go to another where it's a pay program.

If the credit card # wasn't voluntary given how did they get it? Something to check into.

I am sorry to say but you should check back on the site and read because most of those places tell you in very little print that you have to cancel in a certain amount of days. I have had the same problem. Example AOL "free trial" isnt free if you dont cancel in enough time. Well good luck

Report them to your State Attorney General. Most States have laws against these tactics. My state requires statements like that to be clearly posted for me to see. The old trick of putting it in the fine print is how they got you.

You need to cancell that credit card and get a new one so they can't keep charging you. They will probably do that on a regular basis.

From what I understand, if you didn't give out your CC info, this could be considered as fraudulent charges. It is your credit card's responsibility to help you out on this.

If on the other hand, you did give out your CC info., then you're stuck I think.

I also checked out Adobe.com to see if their acrobat reader is free. They do have a free version. You might want to get in touch with Adobe too cause this may be some sort of scam that is using Adobe as it's weapon.

One thing to keep in mind: If you go to a site that says you need XYZ to see the site, document, etc., do NOT click on the link they have provide you with. Go directly to the site of the XYZ, for instance, in this case, I'd directly go to Adobe.com..in the case of Flash Player, I'd go directly to macromedia.com (it redirects you to adobe.com now).

You say you did not give them a credit card number so how exactly would they be able to charge your card?

it is your fault for giving them your personal information. i do many things but when they ask for my credit card number i close the application and try other things. sorry to say but you will have to pay it.
