I married my first and only girl friend in 1941,she was sixteen and I was seventeen. I was a gunner in the local Anti-aircraft battery and we did our courting between air-raids. We married in 1941, a week later I was posted overseas to the Middle East. Baghdad, Palestine, Western Desert, joined SAS. Returned to England after 4 and a half years abroad. All I wanted then was to devote my life to my wife's happiness, she who had waited for me through all the perils of bombing and V1 and V2 attacks of Hellfire Cornerwithout flinching or failing. Now after 63 years of Marraige, of faithful and undying love for each other, she died. Now I have only myself to please, and at 84, though still helping others,I am lost. So my advise to anybody contemplating the above question 'Think of yourself, now and again'.
