Sorry to hear about your Grandmom. Your GP should be able to provide you with necessary information about living with Alzheimers. You also need support to help you through this. There are associations around that can help. Don't take it all upon yourself. Make sure you have time for yourself, be it a coffee with a good friend to listen to you, or even a walk. It is not going to be easy for your Grandmom or yourself. She will unfortunately get progressively worse and will need care 24/7.
To try to keep her alert, try some simple short games, show her old favourite photos and talk about them. Does she enjoy music, something calming perhaps. Make sure she takes her medication, sufferers can be very crafty at disposing of this.
Hope this is of some help to you, and good luck for the future.

Just love her the same as you normally do. You just have to understand her condition and act accordingly. Who knows how she's gonna feel today or what she'll remember from yesterday. If you have to keep a journal to help her remember, do so, then read it to her on occassion. Good luck!

Help your grandmother to apply for Medicaid, if she is eligible. Medicaid will pay for a home health worker to come and take care of your grandmother. If medically necessary, you can have a home health aid 24 hours a day.

Man, i feel for ya. You think its bad now? It WILL get worse. Went thru every stage of it with my grandpa. He eventually passed away from it. She will need care 24/7 so she doesnt hurt herself or someone else. After awhile u will need outside assistance.
Good luck..

later stages of Alzheimers patients will require hospitalization. They will forget how to swallow, etc.
