How can one verify that a son was born to a woman 37 years ago

Department of Vital Records and Statistics (for the state the birth took place in)

Blood test. Written birth records can be changed or be fraudulent, or misleading. For instance my son was born out of wed lock his birth certificate doesn't show this as it shows my surname, therefore he could be the child of another man, and he, my son, would be none the wiser.
