I used an ovulation microscope when I was trying to conceive. Its a small microscope what detects ovulation with a sample of your saliva. Its really simple to use, you place a small amount of your saliva onto the small glass window... leave it to dry for 5 minutes then look at it through the mini microscope. If you are fertile your saliva will look like the pattern of a fern leaf. They are 98% accurate, simple, affordable and you can use it over and over again. It looks like a lipstick so its very discreet. I got pregnant within the first 3 months of using it. I now have my beautiful twin daughters. It turned out I was an early ovulator... 7 days after my period. So its not always 14 days each woman will be different.

Also get to know your body. I experience lower abdominal pain usually on one side just before I ovulate. When you ovulate some women get a thin, stretchy discharge rather like raw egg white. A few of my friends mentioned this to me and they were surprised when I told them it was a sign of ovulation. Being young, free and single conception does not concern them. But they will be grateful for that little bit of knowledge one day! Good Luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

If you are already pregnant, you will not ovulate. The hormones produced during pregnancy stop the ovaries from producing eggs.

There are many things that can delay ovulation, stress quite often being the cause. For this reason, you can't really depend on the calendar to give you an accurate ovulation date.

In order to pinpoint ovulation, you can go about it in a couple of ways. One of the easiest is to use an ovulation predictor kit. These kits detect the surge of lutenizing hormone (LH) in your urine. LH is the hormone that tells the ovaries to release the eggs. When you get a positive LH surge on an OPK, ovulation usually follows within 24-48 hours.

Another way to pinpoint ovulation is to chart your fertility signs. These signs include your basal body temperature (BBT), which is your temperature upon waking in the morning, your cervical fluid, and your cervical position. In the 3-4 days preceding ovulation, your cervical fluid will change from a sticky or creamy consistency to something that looks more watery or eggwhite-like. Your cervix will move from a low position to a higher one, and will also begin to feel more soft and open as ovulation approaches. A high, soft, open cervix with eggwhite cervical fluid is an indicator that ovulation will occur very soon. It is during this time you are most fertile, and have the best chances at conception. Once ovulation has occurred, your BBT will rise dramatically, and will remain higher than before ovulation, until your next period.

A rise in the BBT will only confirm that ovulation has occured. It will not predict it. Once your temperature has risen, it means you have already ovulated, and your fertile window is over. This is why you need to check your cervical position and fluid each day beginning once your period has stopped.

You can use an online program such as Fertility Friend to help you chart your cycles. It's free of charge, and will help you interpret the data. You can also use OPK's in conjunction with fertility charting, which will give you the most accurate information possible.

If you are uncertain whether or not you might be pregnant, the best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test. Most home pregnancy tests are accurate the first day of a missed period. For some women, these tests will not show positive until several weeks into their pregnancy. For many women it is normal to bleed throughout their pregnancy. If you have taken home tests and gotten negatives, but still feel as though it might be possible that you are pregnant, you are best off having a blood test taken by your doctor. These tests are extremely accurate.

Best of luck!

My guess would be either you ovulate late or early. I ovulate on day 9 or 10 after my period. Just found out I am finally pregnant after a year of trying. Just be patient and relax, stress if the worst thing for you if you are trying.

not everyone ovulates on day 14, and not everyone ovulates the same day every cycle.

I ovulate day 22-24 of a 38 day cycle. Just keep peeing on the sticks, at some point you'll find when you ovulated.

If you're trying to get pregnant, put the strips down adn just have sex for fun. Once you start TRYING to MAKE yourself pregnant you'll find its impossible. once you just stop trying and enjoy having sex again youll get pregnant in a snap.

This is advice for all who wish to conceive, DO NOT TRY! Just lest it happen and don't think about getting pregnant and it will happen, My husband and I tried for 10 yrs. When I gave up and stopped thinking and stressing over it I got pregnant and now have three wonderful children (O.k. I over did that, Mostly wonderful children, meaning sometimes, but that is just being a parent!).

Why not just enjoy the practise with your partner. You'll end up making your sex life into 'baby making' which won't do either of you any good and could lead to resentment. Enjoy your lovemaking and it will happen eventually without having to check your diary, surely you don't only have sex to get pregnant?

Good luck, and most of all BOTH OF YOU enjoy your sex life (not baby making life).
