Of course they do! Why should they be the exceptions? Everyone hates the Americans. Americans even hate each other.

We don't hate Americans. We're mostly baffled by Americans. And not all Americans. Just the ones who elected Bush... again, but really for the first time.

Why do Americans rag on Canadians so much? We don't hate you, but we should be insulted at the ignorance so many Americans display not just regarding us but the world at large. Our biggest trading partner and the country we share the longest unprotected border in the world with is, for the most part, completely in the dark about us -- whether that's because the majority don't care or because of a faulty education system, I don't know. I don't know how many times I've been asked about my pet polar bear from clueless Americans. No, we don't all play hockey; no, we don't all speak French; no, we are not all perpetually drunk; no, we don't live in igloos; and no, Toronto is not the capital of Canada. We get very little respect from the American government (one public figure said that if we won't give our water to the U.S., the U.S. will take it from us...) and constantly get the moniker of "America's little brother" in the world media. Newsflash: Canada is not just a minature copy of the United States. That's what we hate more than anything, not the people.

My sense is that many Canadians are baffled by the choices that too many Americans make-electing and then re-electing an administration that is dangerous to the well-being of the U.S and to the rest of the world. I too have the same bafflement and it frightens and disturbs me that so many American citizens could be in such denial as to buy into the government that they did. As for hate, like anywhere there are many different kinds of people. People who hate will hate no matter what or where they are from. But my experience is that Canadians are a wonderful group of people and that Canada is a fabulous country. There is no question that the weather is the only thing that has kept massive exits from the U.S. into Canada and Canada need be grateful for their weather or they would be over-run with Americans trying to escape. In general, I think Canadians don't hate Americans but are baffled by how stupid they can be in their choices. But don't forget, there is a very high percentage of American citizens that were, and are, against the choice of the U.S. government and its egregious policies. If anything, Americans ought to envy Canada-it's beautiful, has great health care, and is a much more humane country to live in!

Do Canadians hate Americans? Not at all. If you read message boards, there are some people that like to think so, however it is simply not true.
In any society there are people that espouse hate for anything or anyone they do not agree with.

Some Canadians don't like American foreign policy; some Americans don't like Canadians either, but so what?

There are always people like 'malachik' that are completely uninformed about Canadians and choose to stay that way and promote information that is absolutely INCORRECT.

MOST Canadians think Americans are just fine, and vice versa.

Yes, I am french canadian by heritage and am first generation american and love my country very much. My father came to this country in 1926 and I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins in canada because my family has been there since 1634. I used to visit alot when i was younger in the sixties and seventies and my cousins used to tell me that they hated the U.S. because we were the "policemen of the world" and I used to get so mad at them but now i feel that they were right and our government should keep it's nose where it belongs and worry about what is going on here I am sure that their children feel the same way. I think I would move to canada if it was warm I like their government and their health care for I am disabled and having to jump hoops to get my disibilty that i have paid for all my life and cannot get medicaid because of federal cuts. Canadians are good and kind people and are not jealous of the U.S.........Flo

I'm a dual citizen and I've lived in both countries. I don't think either group hates its counterpart on the other side of the border. The US has garnered a lot of ill will worldwide for the arrogance of our foreign policy and some Canadians undoubtedly share in that (heck, plenty of Americans disagree with our foreign policy!)

I am half Canadian and see no reason to hate myself, or any American or any Canadian.
In Ontario, it is easy to tell the people who live there; up there
Canada is spelled c A n A d A.
(I wonder how many will catch on to my silly joke)

BTW, my great great grandfather used to run a stagecoach line out of Denbigh, a couple of my ancestors were allegedly the most notorious counterfeiters in Canadian history, two second cousins are in the hockey hall of fame (both Canadian). and two more of my second cousins are buried in a Canadian military cemetery in France.
I am proud to be an American and equally proud of my Canadian heritage.

I think Canadians hate the US government and its policies. American citizens, though? Not unless they live in a border town where 19 year olds go every weekend to get stupid drunk.

Probably. I don't know why they would if they did though, it's not like anyone can really tell the difference between a Canadian and an American.

I can't speak for all Canadians, but I know I don't hate any more Americans than I do my own countrymen.
