Harrah's is comping me 2 free nights in a P room between now and New Years. I'm really excited about it. What are the must see, must try things in or around The Paris. Any special restaurant or other things to try or do? Anything not to try/do or to look out for?

All tips appreciated. This is my first time staying center strip.

I'll give you an insider's point of view on this one since I worked there for a few years.

I'll admit, it is a little pricey. But if you're comped, who cares? A great place to start is Mon Ami Gabi. It's a cafe at the west end of the casino floor. They have outdoor seating, which is great for people-watching(my favorite Vegas activity) and seeing the Bellagio fountain shows(a must see). You can also ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower and see a panoramic view of the area. It's especially breathtaking at night. From there, it all really depends on what you want to do. If you want to shop, head north to the Forum Shops at Caesars or even further past T.I. to the Fashion Show Mall. Bellagio has a few stores, but unless you're looking specifically for Armani, Gucci or Tiffany they probably won't have anything. If you want to gamble, MGM has the largest casino floor, along with some amazing restaurants. It's hard to give advice on what to do in Vegas since there is so much to do. It really all depends on what you like to do. The best advice I can give is to pick up a "What's On" magazine. They're free and usually can be found in the main lobby or concierge desk. It will give you a comprehensive guide of what to do and where to do it. The shows, restaurants, clubs...everything. After you do that, flip through it and hit the monorail. Anyway, you'll enjoy staying at the Paris. The atmosphere is gorgeous and I can honestly say that the staff is there to make your stay more pleasureable. They are REQUIRED to do whatever possible to satisfy the guests. As I used to tell my employees "Never say, 'No'".

My personal fav's of Vegas:

Hotels: Bellagio, Bally's, Paris(personal bias), MGM, Caesars

Restaurants: 3950, Bradley Ogden, N9NE Steakhouse, Jasmine

Clubs: Ghostbar, TAO, Foundation Room, Voodoo Lounge, Carnival Bar

Shows: Penn & Teller and...well, that's about it for shows. Not much of a magic guy, and Clint Holmes is no Frank Sinatra.

Oh I love staying at the Paris. As I recall, the bathroom was the best that I've seen in Vegas so far. The Paris was the most expensive hotel where I’ve stayed in Vegas though. Watch the Ballagio water show at night from the tower. It's beautiful, and it's totally different from watching at street level. The cafe is really good. I like they're casino the best because it's so bright. Other casinos can be dark and smoky.

Paris is really nice and close to just about everything on the main strip. The monorail even runs to the back of Bally's which is connected to Paris. If you like to drink in the Bally's hotel they have a Tequila Bar that offers Happy Hour tequila shots and a beer for like $2.50 and occasionally have a live singer...nice place to sit and drink and listen to music.

It may have been just us but we were really unhappy with the staff in the Paris. They seemed really grumpy and set off by having to help tourist. But that is true for other hotels there. Perhaps something in the water makes everyone angry?

Mmm we stayed at the Paris a few years ago and we did the Eiffel Tower ride thing and it was cool and we did eat at the Cafe. I must say everything at this hotel was extremely overpriced. I mean EXTREMELY. I believe they were asking $22.00 U.S. for a small plate of fries and gravy. And a cappucino was $6.50 US for a small. It was a bit ridiculous. The rooms are not anything special. I would have preferred to stay at one of the older hotels...maybe some old red velvet...with nostalgia.

Al-- as I recall from your prior posts I think you are an experienced Vegas visitor so I will simply say the best thing about Paris to me is the breakfast buffet cafe (around the ground level) which is decorated like a french street with tables outside each fake cafe (very cute) ...the buffet food was excellent...expensive as you would expect...the rest you know about....

It's a pretty nice hotel. I would say it's one of the nicer ones. They have a small cafe inside there (don't remember what it's called, but it's made to look like an outdoor cafe) that has REALLY good chili.

Excellent chili!

Watch the water show at the Bellagio - you'll be right across the street...HOWEVER...if you were staying IN the Bellagio, you could listen to the music that goes with it. You can go to Jasmine (at the Bellagio) for dinner, drop big bucks and see the show from window...It's beautiful.
