As most P3 systems do not have any ability to monitor thermal conditions, it is best to use the case fan. This is especially true as todays applications when run on a p3 are going to put a heavy load on the CPU increasing the need for cooling.

You can't live without a CPU fan, but I would think a case fan would be optional on an old CPU. Once you rack up the clock cycle, though, a case fan is a necessity.

Yes. the fan helps keep your computer parts cool. The cooler your parts the better.
My PC at home has four case fans. Two to pull the air in, and two to push the air out.

it depends., if you dont have an aircon you need it., but p3 is dont produce much heat unlike p4.,and there's nothing wrong if you have a fan in ur case.,

Yes, as it is probably cooling the hard drives or processor. If the problem is noise, they are cheap these days.
