Thats THE ONLY one i read, the others i looked at were different opions and ideas then that book. Read magazines and look online, but that book is all you need.

Part of me liked this book and part of me did not. It obviously has a lot of good information covered in it, but also had a lot of stuff in there to make you paraniod for no reason. I realized that I had to take a lot of info in that book with a grain of salt because if you take everything too litteraly you will make yourself nuts with worry. I also got the girlfriends guide to pregnancy which I also sort of liked since they cover some of the things not found in the "bible" and came from another mom's experienced and her girlfriends so it was more fun to read.

when I first became pregnant everyone told me how great what to expect is... I have read it and it contains too much outdated and/or incorrect information you must weed through to be useful, it would be a very good book if the information was updated.
being a nutritionist I was epically disappointed on the recommendations they gave on feeding issues, weaning and solid introduction :(
it also down plays many risks associated with the procedures described in the book.
RECOMMENDED:
use the internet you will get more opinions to consider, then back them up with medical recommendation!
http://www.kellymom.com is great for nutrition and breasteffding

Actually this one is my least favorite book of all the pregnancy books I have bought. So far my fave is "Pregnancy Bible" it has everything...pictures of what the baby looks like at each week, what your belly will look like, it address much more than "what to expect when your expecting" It address, financial issues, sexual issues, child care after the baby is born. It is loaded with info! Check it out...you might want this one too~

I hate the what to expect series because it seems to recommend alienation between mommy and baby. It doesn't care too much about breast milk, co-sleeping, avoiding day care - the things real babies care about. I used an ancient hippie style pregnancy book from the 70s.

"what to expect" and "week by week" are the two books I used side by side through out this pregnancy...being a first time mom...they were both excellent in answering everyday questions that pop up...as well as symptom checking...

I was more of a website person, though one of my friends gave me the book. honestly, it was the only book I read during pregnancy. Others are more like baby/parenting magazine (babycenter and american baby gave it out for free if you sign up) and websites such as ivillage.com and babycenter.com
But I agree with you that the book is useful.

"The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicki Iovine is a great book. It's told is non-technical terms, and it's a riot, too!

The unexpected! LOL! No book can tell you what to get ready for because every experience is different for each mother to be.
