The tax year runs to 5th April, however the financial year is an all together different thing. Many companies have financial years which do not correspond to the tax year, thus it depends on which you want tax year or financial year for a company!

The financial tax year starts on 1st April as this applies to companies, the Fiscal tax year starts on 6th April and applies to the general public.
