It depends on what was removed. If you still have your ovaries (but not your uterus), then you don't need hormone replacement, because your ovaries might still be producing them. If your ovaries were also removed, it depends on your age and how comfortable you are with the risks involved in long-term HRT. I've had severe hot flashes and have been on HRT for many years. To me the relief is worth the small risk. My grandmother's hot flashes continued into her 80s.

it depends on the person and the severity of thier symptoms i had a hystrectomy in 1997 and stopped taking premrin in 2001 i still had a few hot flashes that came and went eventually they were all gone and now i dont have any menopause symptoms at all
