If the Dem's win and that is a big if they will insist on raising taxes on what they consider the rich. You know you and me and the rest of us making more than $50,000 a year. They won't raise taxes for the super rich ( too many Dem's qualify) and of coarse the poor pay no taxes. They will probably increase the earned income credit and reinstate welfare and other give away programs. But only the same old thing. They haven't had a new idea in years.

Will my taxes be raised? Yes, certainly. Will my total economic situation worsen? I won't be able to tell. If my taxes rise $1000/year, but the economy grows extra and I get a $2000/year raise over what I would of have gotten had the republicans stay in charge, it won't really matter that I'm paying more because I'm getting more. Most people don't think in terms of the big picture-- I do.

BUT... I believe a democratic win in 2006 will be detrimental. They'll waste time attacking Bush despite the fact he'll be gone anyway in two years, and gain lots of cheap political points but fail to solve any problems. Better to save their money for 2008, and then throw the republicans all out when it will do some good.

Of course, the other option is fixing the broken system. We need a 2-man runoff when a president fails to get 51% of the popular vote. Of course, neither party would go for this, it would hurt both parties.

Obviously, it'll go up. It doesn't matter what tax bracket you're on. Some people think money in your pocket means you'll spend it thereby helping the economy. Some people think the government needs more money to help to the economy therby raising taxes. Who's right? Who knows. Let's hope for the best.

The question is "whose taxes" will go up?

Not mine and not the super rich, they hide their money.

Honestly I would rather have an economy with the prosperity of the Clinton years and pay a little more in taxes than what weve had in the last 5 or 6 years.

Exactly the same as if the republicans win i don't understand when if you look back historically the majority of new taxes and big tax increases were republican endorsed

I have no idea. But if they are, I hope the money will go to something more worthwhile than waging a pointless war with no defined objective, or the other b/s our republican administration seems to think is important.

At this point it isn't "if", its "when". George is screwing up America royally and everyone knows it. I would be willing to pay higher taxes just to get rid of his ***.

They'll never win as long as they are so far left, and if they did, yes, our taxes would go thru the roof!
