Cereals and detergents. Most supermarket items, really. I often wonder how a person on reduced income (or next-to-none) can afford to keep themselves reasonably nourished and their family's clothing clean. The basics are no longer basic. It's sad.

And don't even get me started on clothing....

Gas and Healthy food. Critics go on about obesity in America well if they really cared about the probleam maybe they would make healthy food less expensive. No wonder everyone goes through mickey D's or Bk becuse it's way cheaper then trying to by a weeks worth of organic grocerys.

Watermelon in the US is extremely overpriced, believe me. In Europe in some countries watermelon is almost free, it's that cheap. I mean it's just some fruit, not like a major brand name haute couture designer gown or shoes or whatever, it's a damn watermelon for god's sake and it's 10 bucks a piece!

Health care in this country. Everything, from health insurance to medical care in hospitals. Diagnostics and doctor's fees are out of reach for most. The lack of health insurance coverage for the average citizen is a national disgrace. Don't get me started on the pharmaceutical companies.

Medical care, and I don't mean health insurance. I mean medical costs. In one year, we were billed $40,000 in medical expenses. I had several procedures for kidney stones and the care and delivery of my first child. My husband had surgery and follow-ups for a hernia. Thank goodness for insurance! We only paid out a few hundred dollars while they covered the rest... at their reduced rates, of course.

healthy foods. I try to get my kids to eat healthy, so I buy fresh fruits, veggies, etc. get to the register after all that and regular groceries and you spend $300.00 and only get 2 weeks worth of them. It's insane. No wonder people are obese and unhealthy these days, it costs too much to eat the way you should.
