We need dresses that are looser at the waist and that have sleeves to cover our upper arms. We do not need anything frumpy and old-ladyish, just some nice styles that disguise the flaws. A-line would be nice. Slim pants with elastic in the waist.
Not everyone has a seventeen-year-old figure, which is what most of today's clothing seems to be designed for.

I hear you sister!! I'm about to turn 34 and although my style has always been pretty modern and young (so much, that people don't believe I'm 33), but as I'm growing older, I get the feeling that the clothes I've been using will start making me look ridiculous sooner than I thought. But how do I change to a grown-up look? there's no smooth transition for that because there are not too many options in the market. That's why I keep dressing like a 20 year old I guess. Plus, It's very sad when my mom goes shopping and she comes back frustrated and empty-handed. And she's not obese. Only not with a 17 year old body, like you said.

Well, I think it is unreasonable to ask ALL fashion designers to make such clothing. But I agree it is perfectly reasonable to expect SOME fashion designers to design clothes for older women in mind.

Someone is missing a tremendous sales opportunity!
I'm surprised that Donna Karan doesn't design for this purchasing group, considering that she is in the group herself! Many of the older female stars seem to gravitate to her designs, so maybe she has some things in her lines more approriate for older women.

Good luck!
