I've heard talk from my dad and his co-workers saying that Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer should be fired because he plays "old school" football. I say no because he's only had two losing seasons as head coach and we should do relatively well this year.

What do you guys think? Am I right or do my dad and his co-workers know what they're talking about?

All Schottenheimer has done in the past few seasons is restore the credability of the entire San Diego Chargers organization. RIght now they're a legit Super Bowl team.

Dump Marty? Ya, sounds brilliant.

Marty Schottenheimer will get you to the playoffs. He's been an outstanding regular-season coach his whole career. But he will never - I said NEVER - win a Super Bowl.

Which leaves the Chargers in kind of a dilemma. Do you waste LT & Co. hoping Marty suddenly figures out how to win the big one? Or do you bring in a promising young coordinator in the Gruden/Mora mold who might be able to get them past that sticking point.

I'm not a fan of Marty, so I'd say dump him, though admittedly it'd be tough to justify after several trips into the playoffs.

I hate to assert it, yet certain. he's too set in his strategies. At this aspect is only a figure head. He does no longer positioned on a headset. How does he furnish enter? As a head coach you won't be able to attempt this. i changed into blown away that they misplaced an analogous way they misplaced the Jets pastime in 2004. I undergo in ideas at the same time as he had the quantity a million seed in KC and made an analogous blunders. He merely won't be able to enable bypass of Marty Ball. It changed into glaring they made no 1/2 time differences in the course of the game. i'm no longer a specialist NFL participant. I did play in college and that i even keep in mind that the matchups were no longer operating. He had a pastime plan that he merely refused to change for. The Patriots were waiting to exhibit the weak spot with the blitz and the corners were getting uncovered. the middle of the field changed into huge open and that confirmed the Patriots the position to bypass. Why in the international once you intercept the ball attempt to run with it once you're protected? stupid consequences, the communities thoughts were too severe and Marty because the coach did not ring them in and regain their concentration. there changed into undesirable clock administration interior the 4th quarter. finally it falls on the coach. Marty did not do sufficient to enable his team win. by making use of no longer kicking the field purpose. He did not supply the Chargers a danger to win. With 14-2 record and residential field benefit prepared. that's inexcusable. no longer less than he must have received that pastime. i trust if he a minimum of received that pastime human beings and administration ought to have forgiven him. As a Charger fan i will in no way forgive him for that absolute crap of a pastime plan. the guy desires to bypass and he desires to retire and stay retired. i'm in touch by giving Cam a shot. I merely desire he does no longer educate to be like the St. Louis Rams experienced with Mike Martz. tremendous coordinator yet no longer an excellent head coach. Norv Turner an analogous way. you merely in no way understand? i imagine the Chargers must be sick to imagine of all the what it truly is. the bottom line is Marty changed into out coached on each aspect. understanding the Spanos kinfolk they received't fireplace him. he will step down after a million more advantageous year and could likely retire or bypass into television or Radio. Cam or per chance Cowher in many circumstances is the subsequent Chargers coach in 08.

The biggest knock on Schotty is that he can't win in the postseason. But I say give him a couple more years, he's done alot to break himself out of the "Martyball" mold since he's been in San Diego, I think the Chargers might surprise some people in the playoffs this year.

Marty knows how to put together a winning team and get you to the playoffs but he has never won the big game.

If they don't do it now they will just have to do it in a couple of more years. Schittenheimer being Schittenheimer, the team will take a dump in a few years.
