An actual reply from another question I asked:
"In my opinion, the muslim religion is a very violent religion to begin with. In its scripture, it says that people should go out and force others to become muslims. If they do not convert, kill the infidels."
Is this true, and if so, how do you know? Is there an online link that you can search the Koran for this passage?

hajgora7 provided a link below that does NOT look authoritative when it comes to what the Koran actually says. Please don't believe everything you read on the Internet!

No, there is no such verse in the Holy Quran which says that. But people who hate Islam try to take verses out of context and try to proof themself right which alone show there hate towards something and ignoreness.

Regretfully, like it or not, these passages from the Koran will keep haunting the Muslims. It is the Muslims themselves who should come forward and try to explain it to the non-Muslims. Why? It is their belief, not mine, it is their responsibility and they should be better in explaining than we.
Christian theologians have for centuries long studied the Bible and came up with (possible) explanations about the scripture, how things should be interpreted (sometimes according to the denominations), etc. (mind the differences between the Old and New Testament!). I suppose that the Muslim scholars have done the same regarding the Koran and should have come up with possible explanations why things were written in such, for non-Muslims, harsh words.
Saying to the non-Muslims that Islam is a peaceful religion is not enough, Christians and Jews and followers from other religions will say the same. It is like a competing market.
People can and should be critical towards their own religion without losing their faith.

Why are you attacking this person, i think this ia a good question. Osama bi Laden has said if America refuses to convert he has the right( by their scriptures) to kill 10,000 more Americans. That leads me to believe their religion of Islam is all for murder as we have seen with 9/11!! I dont know maybe I do not know enough about Islam but any religion that advocates murder isnt the one for me!!!! Was Osama wrong in his quote if he was not how can anyone defend Islam?

Every religion is either very violent (Christianity, Judaism, Muslims) or very loosy (Jehova Witnesses, Buddism, Mormon). Regardless of their text, they're all going to challenge what you think. As for a Koran passage, you'll only find a translation and they'll advice you to learn Arabic so you can read straight from the Quoran. Just like in the witch-burning, people-boiling, martir-stoning, throat-slashing, baby-murdering, ww3 making Christians, you'll find very violent things in their holy book. However times should've changed enough to be able to know the difference between savage extreme primitive fundamentalists and modern Christians, Muslims, etc.

That's a very extremist and literal way of interpreting that particular passage of the Koran. Islam in general is not a violent faith. As a muslim myself, I know that one of the key pillars of Islam is tolerance and acceptance, not forceful conversion through violence. You need to get your facts straight by viewing other interpretations and understandings of Islam, not just the extremist views.

Well what we do know is what we see!
How about all the Muslim countries that base their laws on the quran?
They kill their people if they choose to embrace another religion besides islam.
These governments do not allow other religions in their midst.
The person that answered,................. "Read the Quran and it clearly states Don't interfere in other People's religion you go your own way and let them go their own",.................. has not taken the time to intellectually consider "All" the evidence that is before them.

"But if they incline to peace, you also incline to it, and (put your) trust in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower." Quran 8:61. I think you must be misinformed. All verses referring to war in the Quran are either discussig protocol or addressing certain wars that took place during the prophet's time, in which Muslims had a much smaller army and little hope. God sent them this verse so they would perserver against injustice. In any case, God promotes peace, justice and liberty. Many Muslims, though, don't follow these guidelines during war, despite the Quran's specifications to conduct oneself in a proper manner. "The best jihad (struggle) is of the nafs (self)" hope im of help. May God guide us to the right path, open our hearts to the truth, and shield us from sin.

Ive read the Bible because its one of our holy books as well. Read the Quran and it clearly states Dont interfere in other People's religion" you go your own way and let them go their own"

Ah man, Hal Lindsay wrote a book on Islamic Jihad that would shed a considerable amount of light on your question. He has already toughed it out, mowing through sura after sura(so you won't have to...)and gleaning insightful meaning from it that reveals the true heart of Islam. I hope this helps
