how much does it costs to put it in the newspaper that ur getting ur last name changed? and y do u have to put it in the newspaper?

The cost is provided by the newpaper your publishing it in. You will have to contact them.

You have to put it in the newspaper to advertise your changing it to ensure you are not chaning it for an illegal purpose; i.e., get out of paying debts, create a new identity to evade criminal pursuit, etc.

It depends... the law requires that you have the information publish in a newspaper with a certain volume of circulation. In my area, when I did that.. The paperwork I got form the court to fill out also had a listing of newspaper that meet this criteria. The local big paper was almost $400. A smaller community paper was about $40... guess which one I choose.

If you court doesn't supply a listing, try looking up local publications in the phone book of surrounding areas and ask them if they do public annoucements like yours and what their cost is.

Generally, it has to be published three times, and our local newspaper charges about $50.00 total. It needs to be published to allow for objections, etc.

it depends upon where you are located. in california, such an ad has to run every other week for two months, i think. the cost iis about $400 because the legal notice has to be published.
