This man is big enough to say that His Holiness, Pope Benedict has been misunderstood.

Is he such a monster or are we been misled on another propaganda campaign.

Yes he was misquoted by the western press.. more specifically the comment was taken out of context. However, there is a not so subtle coalition of Christians and Jews globally that are willing to define all things Muslim as evil which in itself, like all Dogma is Evil. I heard on a local radio program some late night bible thumper using the reaction to this comment as an example of the worlds hostility towards Christianity, which I thought was ridiculous, but based on the callers for his program seems like a lot of confused people used it the same way ? I am not defending the pope, I just think it was an overstatement by the media and as such has had an undesired effect on an already hot topic..

actually check out David W above me for the example of that kind of thinking ?

In his speech he also prayed for the American people (not just our leaders but all of us) to fall and for the other countries to follow in taking us down. We are hated in many countries because of jealously and also the war. It has always been that way. Even when we help with natural disasters in other countries we are still hated. The most powerful whether it is a person or a country, are usually hated. The fact that we can wipe them off the map is enough to hate us. The fact that we are able to blow them off the map is part of it. Fear always produces hate. The difference is they know we won't as seen when Chavez and the movie stars traveled freely throughout the country. Almost any other country would have burned him in effigy and let off a bomb here and there. We would sure not be free in his country

Many times he has no control over his mouth and he does not say the politically correct thing! That does not make him a monster! It just makes him look foolish!
The pope knew exactly what he was saying and being a figure of power and religion he should have chosen his words wisely!
He should have never insulted a entire religion just like he would not want his religion disrespected and believe me there is allot in Catholicism that can be criticized.

I don't think so. I really don't trust this guy. On the History Channel I seen how Hitler made himself seem harmless to the world with flattery and sweet talked himself out of trouble.

Just keep an eye on him Free Thinker.

Hitler was charismatic, too.

I thought your post was going to pertain to Bush, but as it turns out, you only want to give a break to a fanatical theocratic dictator instead of your own President.

He is a monster. He could have been more sensitive in his remarks yet he chose to attacked an entire religion. he knew what he was doing.
