I have an old Toshiba Satellite laptop, it is pretty low quality and is powered by an Intel Celeron chip, so i realize it shall be rather slow, but I was looking for ways to make it faster and so that it doesnt take forever to run two programs at once. I have cleaned the startup and kept the system pretty basic, but i dont know what else I can do, I also have a lot of programs but they are all saved to an external harddrive so that my laptop's harddrive is pretty empty as of now.

any ideas and if so could you tell me how to go about doing them?

thanks

Go to http://www.crucial.com/and see if additional memory is available for your laptop.

Put an older operating system that is supported by it they are faster on new hardware because they don't hog the memory as much.
