No it will not delete the songs only the software. Use Real Player or QuickTime to play them only files in C:\Programs Files\Windows Media Player. Get deleted.

No, your songs will not be erased. The media player is independent of the song files. Getting an error from a Microsoft product in the Windows OS is a common problem. I try to avoid using Microsoft products as much as possible. Ironically, a lot of non-Microsoft products work better in Windows than competing Microsoft products.
Why don't you try installing Quick Time from Apple's web site (www.apple.com)? This media player is very stable and does a good job of integrating all of your video and song files. You don't have to have an iPod or MP3 player to use this software. The iTunes software has a nice selection of streaming radio stations: even my local jazz broadcast radio station is there!

Uninstalling the Media Player shouldn't have an impact on your music.
However, Walmart Music does require licenses to play. Er...at least it did last time I d/l songs. Anyways, you might want to make sure to backup your licenses.
I had a problem with the media player v10 and ended up upgrading to the beta 11 version. It works pretty well. Fixed the problem, too.
It might also communicate better with your mp3 player.
Good Luck.

The media player is like your CD player. You can toss it out the window, and your music will still be safe on your CDs.
By the way, for all the jazziness of the various media players and music stations etc etc etc, you can't beat Winamp. Simple, free, and durable.

when in doubt.. just go to the folder where these song files reside and copy / paste them to a folder you can remember.
(create a new folder and paste them to that one. so then not only will they not be deleted but you'll remember where they are. )
you can always signify the program to where the files are.
or any other program that will play those files.
:D
if you don't know where the files are exactly, and you know the extensions or the names, just go to the start menu and select search then select files and folders.
or something similar to that command.
and it can find them for you.
especially if the player likes to adapt files to folders of it choice like if you put them into it's library or saved them to an auto play function.
:D

It won't delete the songs. Sounds like a problem with your MP3 player or its software

Deleting windows media player won't erase your music files.
If you want to really ensure their security you can burn them to a CD first.

Uninstall but don't delete MP10. It should not remove your songs.
