Hate is an emotion that never leaves but love flees. Also, you could get more validation from others for hating, but to love makes you an open target of jealousy and hatred.

The Spirit is Willing but the Flesh is Weak. So, the weaker point gives in first.
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

Because any one who loves takes a risk that it will be rejected or they will be hurt by giving their love. It's far easier just to hate somebody and no chance of getting hurt.
