A dresser is typically low and long with a mirror mounted on the back so you can dress in front of it and see yourself -- hence the name dresser. A chest of drawers is usually more narrow and taller. Forexample, my dresser had three drawers across and three top to bottom. The piece is about 4 feet long with a large mirror on it. My cest of drawers is 5 longer drawers one on top of the other. It's only about 3 feet wide and is taller.
