Will someoen explain what is funny about Catherine Tate? She looks like a yob. All she does is dress up as people in sketches containing no jokes - and has one innane catch phrase (where she plays a very aggressive unpleasant schoolgirl). So, what's the attraction?

I totally agree. Everyone raves at work about her so I watched an episode and thought it was about the unfunniest thing I have ever seen. Everytime she says that bovered thing I want to smack her one. Bring back proper comedy, Only Fools, Black Adder, One Foot in the Grave (know that one's a bit difficult really!)

AM I BOVVERED THOUGH?

Because Catherine Tate is simply BRILLIANT. I have to disagree with you, she is a comic genius. Her varied array of characters and satire are a great observation of society, and like Little Britain touch a raw nerve with most viewers.

Apart from Phil Cornwell, Jon Culshaw, Sasha Baron Cohen, Matt Lucas, and David Walliams - how many comedians do you know with such a range and variety of characters, and how many women?

The only woman comedian I can currently think of who is comparable is Jocelyn Jee Esien aka Little Miss Jocelyn.

Her characters are a tour de force, and many are based on real people that we can all relate to, from Lauren, the modern-day schoolgirl; Nan "What a ******* liberty" Taylor the cockney granny who, while appearing to be pleasant, is actually a foul-mouthed racist; Bernie the incompetent Irish nurse always "up for the Craic"; the overtly effeminate man constantly outraged at everyone's assumption he is gay; Sam and Paul, the Essex couple where the wife says "you'll never guess what happened at work today"; the competive egocentric woman in the office who is always showing off "Go on have a guess!", and we all know one; Karen and Ben the new parents who constantly argue, worry about the effect on their baby, and switch to happy singing if their child starts to cry; not to mention the American airhead woman who starts every sentence with the words "and I'm like..." who has an uncanny resemblance to one we've all met; and many more.

As a character Lauren has few to rival her, and is on a par with "Shut up! I ain't never done nuffink or nuffink!" Vicky Pollard, the chav from Bristol in Little Britain.

Oh, and you need a SOH too.

i think of happy. interior the Christmas Episode, "The Runaway Bride", Tate proved herself to be no longer in user-friendly terms a stable comedian yet an magnificent actress too, who can take care of all varieties of storylines (particularly emotional ones) properly. for sure, i think of the writers will ought to tone down the character of Donna somewhat, in that she will't be as loud and extremely stressful as she grew to become into interior the Christmas specific because it would get repetitive, yet she's an incredible character who i've got self belief will artwork properly with Martha and the doctor later interior the series. don't be concerned, Martha followers, as I in simple terms suggested above, she makes a "effective" return halfway via series 4 of doctor Who, after Martha actress Freema Agyeman visitor stars in 3 episodes of Torchwood with John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack. additionally, for people who don't already understand, the BBC have shown rumours that Kylie Minogue will play the substantial different interior the Christmas specific 2007, "The Voyage of the Damned". Roll on Christmas and 2008! =)

I don't think she's funny in general but when she's that horrible grandmother I do laugh. I wouldn't choose to watch though, as I have before to see what everyone was going on about, and I did wonder why I'd bothered. As for that schoolgirl thing - just not funny

My familly were all creasing up laughing, but I just thought it sucked.

People will laugh at any old crap if you put it on tv.
