I get cramps so bad i pass out. The best thing i can advise you to do, so you can function as usual is the following.
DONT EAT DAIRY when you're pmsing or on your period. DONT eat carmel coloring. that means dark sodas.
take ALEVE, two pills every 8 hours from the MOMENT you get your first cramp.
And wear those thermocare period heat pad sticky things. They are a LIFE SAVER.
If you can exercise when you're not on your period it will help a lot too.

Midol is very good. It has a pain reliever, plus a diuretic for bloating and water retention. I find that applying heat (using a heating pad or hot bath) to my back really helps to dull the pain of the cramps. If Midol doesn't help, I usually take Advil or the 8 hour Tylenol.

I think you need a strong pain reliever Tylenol is good but for severe cramps i would use something traditional nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug like ibuprofen(Motrin,Advil, huprin are all good and get's the job done).

I work for DDS and they told me Motrin (ibuprofen), taking it 20 years, saved my life! First start with 1 high dose 600-800mgs.
take 400mg 4 hrs later if needed. Do not take more than 1600mg a day. It is important to eat when you take ibuprofen, it will upset your stomach otherwise.

Severe cramps could be a sign of something serious. You should have it checked. If not, drink plenty of fluids or soda

800 Motrin is good, but it helps alot better if you know your cycle and are able to take it the day BEFORE you start your period. It gives it a chance to try to beat the cramps before they start causing pain.
