They get sore because they aren't used to being used like that. The more in shape you get, the less they will hurt.

There are two things that I can think of that would make them sore.
I think that there is a buildup of lactic acid in your muscles when you use them strenuously, but I don't know how long that buildup lasts.
Also, when you work your muscles, you're actually tearing them down, and the process of building them back up is what makes you stronger.
And I think there's probably some tension left in the muscles after you exercise, which is why it's so important to stretch and learn relaxation exercises.

Wow--you people don't know jack about the body. Sore muscles are caused from using them in a strenuos manner, creating small tears and lesions which heal and bond together making you stronger. The soreness is the muscle building process!!

A build up of lactic acid....
Try taking some calcium after a vigorous workout it will ease the muscle pain calcium binds with lactic acid helping to remove it from the muscle...
Calcium also works great on kids who wake in the night with "growing pains" It eases the pain and allows them to get back to sleep more quickly..
Chewable calcium tablets (Tums, Etc.) work best as they hit you intestine to be desolved more quickly than a time released pill....

some say 'no soreness no earnings'...purely tell them to close up! hear on your physique...your muscular tissues could get better. After a tricky workout consultation you have made microscopic tears on your muscular tissues it takes time and potential to 'build' them decrease back up and so doing yet another difficult workout consultation the day after is especially very like kicking somebody while they are down. Have a relax permit your physique get properly.

If you use your muscles a lot and they don't get enough oxygen, they feel tired. This is called Muscle Fatigue.
