Check at PetSmart for their food, you can get the pellets their... but turtles are one of the most expensive pets to have... You have to have a tank, with a ledge, and light so they can sunbathe in.... they live to be around 60 or 70 years old, so be prepared for a life long 'friend' they have to have a certain diet.... they get really expensive, their food isnt cheap. Their tank has to be cleaned about every 3-4 days because it gets so yucky... If you decide that you arent going to keep this turtle, take it back to the exact spot that you picked him up at.... Turtles travel the same trail every year, so if they are picked up and taken to a new place they dont know how to catch food, because they have a new environment... seriously, its no lie... so they end up starving to death. Check with your local Vet, or call PetSmart or something

Snapping Turtles eat nearly anything that can fit into their mouths. The eat invertebrates, birds, fish, carrion, small turtles, muskrats, frogs, plants, and even ducks. The Common Snapping Turtle gets his food by using his jaws. The Alligator Snapping Turtle gets his food differently. Inside his mouth he has a bright red tongue that has a small growth that resembles a worm. When he opens his mouth and wiggles his tongue, fish often mistake it for a worm and swim right into his mouth.

They eat fish, bugs, frogs and sometimes snakes. Depending on the size of the turtle they will also eat ducks that sit on the water.
