remember, a noun is usually a person, place, or thing. so just examine each word in the sentence and go from there.
1. Small courtesies are often greatly appreciated. ( 1 noun; courtesies) small is describing the courtesies so it's an adjective. often answers when, greatly answers how much, and appreciated is the past tense of a verb. the only person, place, or thing is the courtesies.
2. 3 nouns (alex is a person, scarves are things, and a birthday is a thing)
3. 2 nouns
4. 2 nouns
5. 1 noun
6. 3 nouns
7. 2 nouns
8. 3 nouns
9. 3 nouns
10. 3 nouns
goodluck!

Nouns are words that name people, places, things, and ideas. Don't confuse pronouns (like you, me, us, etc.) with nouns.
1. courtesies (thing)
2. Alex (person) scarves (things) birthday (thing/idea)
3. recipe (thing) potatoes (things)
4. three (people), classmates (people), French (thing/idea)
You try the rest.
5. 2 (people)
6. 1 (thing)
7. 1 (person), 1 (thing)
8. 1 (thing/idea), 1 (person)
9. 1 (person), 1 (idea)
10. 2 (things)
