Some maths questions are very poorly worded. It is not the fault of maths but those who set the questions. The answer depends on exactly what 'a £1,750 holiday' means. If the discount is on the quoted cost (£1,750) then the saving will be £87.50. However, does the question mean this? It could be argued that the £1,750 holiday is what the customer actual pays, that is, it is the discounted price. The the full cost would be £1842 to the nearest whole £ and the saving would be £92 to the nearest whole £.

5% is 5 parts of the 100 whole parts.
To convert percent to amount that percentage is:
1) Divide 5 (Or the percentage) by 100
2) Multiply by the whole
voila....
5/100 = 0.05
0.05 * 1,750 = 87.50
The saving is £87.50, so the new price is £1,662.50
The other way is:
If the holiday gets 5% off, then it only costs 95% of the start price,
95/100 = 0.95
0.95 * 1750 = £1,662.50
The new price is the same as above

Work out 10% - just move the decimal point from £1,750.00 left one place so it is £175.00.
So 10% = £175. Now just half it (£87.50)= 5%
Easy as that!

You need to work out 5% of £1750. If u are using a calculator then it should be pretty obvious how to work it out. If not work out what 1% is and then you can work out 5%.
Am not giving you the answer, you need to learn to work it out yourself, don't mean to be horrible!!!
