a ferret because they like to sleep in a cage all day when u make it comfy. But a squirrel needs the outdoors to run around. if u had it for a pet it would just be cruel to keep it in a cage. U can alsoo let ur ferret out of his cage to run around a room too!

Ferrets stink and they crawl into everything such as your stove or couch and tear them apart from inside. They aren't very nice pets at all. I don't think a pet squirrel is a good idea either. Get a pygmy goat like I did!!!!

Squirrels, if that's what you are referring to, are NOT pets.
Ferrets make great pets in the right hands. There is a lot to learn though. They are expensive to keep, lots of vet expenses for shots, emergencies and the diseases they get. They are time consuming, you have to let them out of their cage for about 4 hours a day and play WITH them. They are labor intensive. You need to scoop their litter box twice daily, bathe them monthly(or less), clip their nails, clean their ears and teeth, wash their bedding weekly and wash their cage out. They can be trained to use the litter box, but YOU have to train them, and retrain them, as they forget. They are not like cats and probably will never be 100%. They'll live 6 - 10 yrs, can you make that kind of a commitment for such a long time?
Read "Ferrets for Dummies" and really really think it through.
Thank you for not just running out and getting one.

Ferrets have been domesticated. Squirrels have not. Ferrets require a lot of extra attention compared to cats/dogs/hampsters/etc. because they produce oils which - to people - smell unpleasant. They are VERY social and mischevious. Fun pets.

Squirrels are unpredictable because they haven't been domesticated. They are less docile and unpredictable.

Have fun!

Ferrets tend to be smelly...I had a squirrel..We got her when she was pretty young, i used to hold her on my chest and cover her up with a hand towel..She had a 3 story cage with numerous toys to play with...She was the sweetest thing in the world..She and my calico cat used to romp and play, they were so much fun to watch them...And she would actually go back to her pen to used the bathroom..She liked to sleep in my (ex) husbands shirt pockets when he would pull them off and throw them in the floor(that was his dirty clothes basket), one day my little niece ran through our room and stepped on her...I cried like a big baby...I would love to have another one....

Both are sweet! Google our yahoo Southern or Northern Flying squirrel's. They have better tempermants than a regular squirrel. Anyways also google Ratkeeter's Rodentry, she breeds them along with other animals. Good luck

Can't spell it, don't want it!! Ferrets are kinda like cats but require more clean up if you train them right.
