Just curious.
What do the armed service personel think about the freedoms here in the States as they are now, and will they defend us, or the government that pays them when the time comes for our freedoms to be under Government control?
Has this been questioned before?

We must remember that to defend the constitution, means to defend any NEW or deleted parts as well.
If the constitution says we have no rights, then the military will defend that also?

They won't have to defend us. We are being conditioned by both parties to accept more limited freedoms.

Armed services personnel are no different than any other healthy, patriotic American citizen. Did you know that in the not too distant past the government polled soldiers to see if they would take action against citizens of the USA if they were ordered to do so, and they said no they would not? The question has been around a long time. And FYI, the government doesn't pay very well. If it did, more people would be clamoring to join the military.

Instead of asking "Will they defend us?" you should be asking "What can I do to defend myself and my country if we are attacked on U.S. soil?" Just like the Norwegians, all men and women should be required to serve in the military so they are trained to defend the U.S. on its own soil. And just like Norway, they should be issued a military firearm by the government which should be inspected by the government yearly to make sure the firearm is in good working order. Norway's crime rate is practically non-existent - who would want to trespass and risk getting shot? Or we can support gun control like the UK and when we're attacked on our own soil as they were in WWII, we can hope another country provides us with firearms like the U.S. did for the British so we Can defend ourselves.

Officers in the armed services of the US swear an oath to uphold the constitution NOT to uphold the "government". I don't know where you think you live, but America is the most democratic country on Earth. Our brave men in women in the the Armed services are dedicated to the ideas of America. You dishonor them by implying that they would do less then their duty.

Great question seeing that many of the soldiers are our own sons & daugthers i would suppose that they would join the will of the majority & those who oppose stand down for it is illegal for U.S. soldiers to attack its own citizens! YET i am aware that it has happened before on several occasions World war I coal mines & in D.C. on veterans who couldn't find work. Kent state in Ohio etc.My son-in-law who is in Iraq right now had better be on my side or the majorities side cause if he didn't i would kick his butt & he knows i can still do it!

i think it is hard to ask what will over 100,000 individuals do,
naturally some will follow the orders of the commander in chief, but many will also go the other way also, much like during the civil war

Well, we paid our 'allies' in Vietnam (not Australia and New Zealand) so I guess others will fight for us
