They are probably either too tight or her toe has got forced forward into the front by the slope thus squeezing it and interupting the circulation.
She is most likely trying to get some feeling back into her toes. She should wear a better fitting pair. You honestly don't need to do that if you get the right pair. Pumps with hose are the worst culprits because the foot tends to cram into the toe box and a snug fit is needed to keep them on.
