It is sometimes claimed that Audrey Hepburn and Katharine Hepburn were related. The truth is they were only very distantly related, and certainly had never met before the former's rise to prominence. The closest relationship that has been identified for them is 19th cousins once removed. It has also been claimed that Audrey chose the last name Hepburn in honor of Katharine when she became an actress; however, the record shows that it was part of her family name for some time before she entered show business.

Father, Joseph anthony Hepburn-Ruston, an English banker.
Mother, Ella Hepburn-Ruston, was a Dutch baroness.
Hepburn grew up in england, and went to the Netherlands, after her parents separated.
Due to Nazi invasion in 1940, she could not leave the Netherlands, until 1948, when she returned to London, and studied ballet at Arnhem Conservatory, on a scholarship, at which time she took the professional name of Audrey Hepburn

They are not related, though wonderful actresses both. Sadly they both have passed. I remember Audrey from Green Mansions and Katherine most for Walden Pond.
