Respect the teachers and study a lot. There is no secret to being a good student; just concentrate more on your work than you do now. If you think you already study enough (more than an hour a day) then you're probably already a good student. The kids on honor roll have lives, they just spend their time wisely.

I suppose the key thing is to be organized. I spend time after lectures and classwork are over to make sure all of my notebooks and papers are where they need to be, because sometimes I have to rush to put them away. Do homework between classes if you want more time at home to do your own thing after school.

If you really want to be a better student, then you will be. Waiting for it to happen (Im not saying that you are) will get you nowhere.

depends on what you mean by 'better'. at least in my day high school was 95+% rote memorization and tedious busy work. memorization only teaches you how to be a monkey. monkeys can memorize. the role of high school in this society is to teach students to become servile, obedient, thoroughly indoctrinated citizens that are trained to generate wealth usually for someone else. most everything one learns in high school has to be unlearned if you are going to pursue any higher academics. the bulk of the history you learn in high school is simply not true. that is the way high school is. if one can't afford college it is better that the lowly masses remain ignorant and have every creative instinct drilled out of them to prepare them for a life of drudgery. my advice to being a good student is to be critical and question everything that you are taught even the methods. except of course in math and science. that's pretty reliable. the designers of the public education system are not complete morons.

i would also reccomend a private school if you can afford it. if not take the responsibility to teach yourself. actually do that anyway. it's alot easier these days with the internet etc.

First of all, you should be in school right now, paying attention, not goofing off on this site.
