I credit education for that. I was fortunate enough to have teachers and professors who taught me to never accept anything as a given, since almost everything is filtered through someone's point of view. Blind acceptance is the driving force behind hatred, religious and social intolerance, idiots taking public office, and just about all the problems plaguing society.
I don't know if there is ever any absolute truth. I think that it's the questioning process that is truly important though, it allows us to advance socially, personally, and as a society, and having the ability to think independently and critically is what makes us truly human.

I don't know to tell you the truth. I always have questioned things and people...I definitely don't believe everything I hear. I will research someone's opinion before I determine whether or not it is fact. If I don't, I'll go around in vein spreading news that may or may not be true... I can't do that. It doesn't seem logical. Plus, I never argue with someone if I don't know all the facts. That's just how it is...

My parents did. They were both Christians and believed that everyone should seek truth and know what and why they believe what they believe.
