The best way to remove mold is mild chlorine bleach solution. Test for colorfastness first. If it isn't colorfast, you may use an colorfast bleach.

Good luck

Applying water repellent won't keep the mould away. The best way to keep the mould away is after you get home from camping to re=open the canvas and let it sundry so that there is no moisture at all on the canvas before you pack it away.
Acid kills mould, however a strong acid be be harnful to you and your canvass but luckily vinegar is an acid and will remove most mould.
