I've had him for a year now and I take excellent care of him. I'm just wondering the average life expectancy for Beta fish.

They can live up to five years if you are really good at changing the water often and offering a variety of food. Poor water conditions (even the occasional pike) slowly weakens the fish shortening the life span.

I had my beta fish for almost 6 years. I just fed him once a day and cleaned out his bowl with water only (no soap) once every 2 weeks. I put a goldfish with him once and he got mad and killed him. I think the pet store guy told me that 6 years was a long time for a beta to live. You have to realize too that you weren't sure of his age when you bought him..so his he may live for another month or for years....

Easily a couple years. I've heard of them living 3-4 for sure.

5 years tops my neighbor had a fish that lived for over 8 years! so if ur fish is healthy then it could even live longer!

Betta splendens, Betta belica, Betta channoides, Betta macrostoma
and they life span is different between species
for betta splendens the life span only 2years
