when i put my floppy disk, the PC asks me to put a floppy disk in (A). why? i put the floppy and when i try to open it it wont let me.

Could be a couple of things....the floppy is bad, or the floppy is unformatted. Try the disc in someone else's floppy drive. If it works, then there's a problem with the drive. If it also isn't being read by the other drive, then the floppy is bad.

Have you tryed a diffrent disk? If that doesn't work, look and see if the light in the front turns on, if it doesn't then your drive might be unpluged, or dead. I would say if switching the diskes doesn't help, then open the side of your case and try to find the floppy cable and make sure there is a power cord going into it and a cable, (probebly gray) Hope the helps, sometimes cables get loose.

hi make sure the IDE cable for the floppy is connected properly and also make sure that the " feed-in" sensor is working properly or not. there are chances to get a error box if ur floppy is corrupted too. u can check on the sensors probably.
