At 23 your best bet is something in sports if he is a sportsman and nothing to mushy cause that will be a turn off but he will lie to you and say thats nice honey.So get what he wants just ask him for three ideas and pick one of them with a cake and some scratch tickets for him but if he wins you win to so good luck to you.

Hats are usually good. My husband is 24, he likes hunting and his truck so I usually get him either something for his truck or some type of hunting equipment. Or if he like sports, you could get him something to do with his favorite team or tickets to a game.
