I do not know where you would go in India, but in the US a trip to any decent computer or Electronic store (Best Buy, etc) will get you what you need. You can get a wireless 802.11g PCI card with antenna to put inside the computer, or an external USB 802.11g that you just plug in for about the same price ($40-60 in the US). Advantage to the USB is that you can easily switch it between computers and use on laptops as well as desktops.

Hopefully where you are they have a wireless router already set up so you have a signal to connect to. If not, you will need to purchase that also.

Most of the time you get a wired connection in and a wireless (802.11g) router and a card for the computer. A desktop you want a PCI card.

If you want a truly wireless connection, you will have talk to the companies that have cell phones in the area. That is who would have the service if it is available. Even in the US it is only in big cities and costs considerably more than DSL or cable.
