This perhaps isn't a political question, except that I hear it in Bush's speeches all the time. Reminds me of America during WW2 and the Cold War when people were suggested to pay attention to "un-american behaviour".

What is this un-american behaviour? Why is it so bad? Isn't everyone living abroad participating in un-american behaviour? If un-american behaviour is that, what is American behaviour? Why is it so virtuous?

I believe un-american behavior would be like holding a sign at a rally that says "go sadamn"

Having dissent or disagreements is simply a first amendment right we all enjoy. It's tough to live in a democracy where you have freedom of speech. In order to be able to say...what you want to say...you have to let the other guy say what he wants to say...no matter how much u dissagree.

Un-American is like...bombing a federal building....other then that...being American should mean that you can have any opinion u want...and be able to express it

It is pretty hard to define, dane, but a simple definition could be, any behaviour which is unacceptable in America may be construed as un-American!

Its like the 'American Way'. Its a vague idea left to be defined subjectively rather than objectively.

"Un-American" is the term conservatives use to smear dissenters and nonconformists who dare question orthodoxy. Equating oppsition with disloyalty is an old, and sadly effective, tactic.
