In order to read a DVD, have have to have a DVD Reader in your computer. Not all drives can read DVDs. Look on the front of the little door on the tray that opens when you insert/eject disc. If the disk is able to play DVDs, it will have a DVD enblem ertched on the door. If it does not, you can not use it to play DVDs.

If it does, all you should have to do is insert the disc and a window will open showing you the files on the disk. Drag them from the disk to your hard drive.

To read a DVD disk on ur windows system, you should need a DVD drive.check wherather your drive is capable of reading DVD's or not. to check that u can see it in ur drive case.
If ur drive is capable of reading the drive insert the DVD disk in the drive and open it from my computer.

if ur drive is not capable of reading the DVD disks u should get one DVD drive from any computer store which is about Rs 2800.

I'm using a LiteOn iHAP-322 and it can work with DVD-RAM as well as has SmartErase so it can securely destroy CD-R/DVD-R media.
