When we were younger, we used to fight alot. But now that we "more mature", we get along a lot better.

My sister is 6 years older than me so obviously she didnt appreciate having a bratty younger sister around when she had her friends/boyfriends over as we shared a room, but now aged 29 and 35 we are best friends it's great she is the only friend i know i can trust 100%!

I can answer from a brother's perspective. I have 3 older sisters.

The eldest sister took up some poor habits from my parents, and as we got older together, we worked through them. We used to argue quite a lot until I grew up and pointed out to her that she treated me worse than a stranger, at which point she "woke up" and we've been enjoying a relationship that improves with every interaction. We don't share much except time looking after my 80+ year old mum.

My second sister (the only one married) gets on with everybody. She has a mind of her own and makes her own decisions. She is gifted with a mind that can empathise with people with ease. We get on well. We don't share costs or time looking after our mum because she lives in another country (mainly to support her husband's career). We do share our thoughts.

My third sister (the only one divorced) and my closest sibling has cut off all communications with the family except for my second sister. She regarded us, quite correctly at that time, as people who were "broken". She didn't have the patience or personal strength to motivate us to change, so to save her own sanity, she worked only on herself and cut off her major sources of pain. She used to share a lot of money and time. Now she shares only her feelings with my second sister.

As a final note, I did get hand-me-downs. My mother still laughs about the day I discovered that boys wear different clothes to girls. I wasn't amused then, but I can understand the financial practicality now.

well, i am 17, and the oldest of 4 younger sister. also a younger brother. we have definitely had our ups and downs, there being so many of us and all. but we always tried to get along. we always stood up for each other, and to each other. lol. so, yea, there were bad times and good times. we shared a lot of things. my youngest sisters are 5 & 2. i grew up with only my other 2 sisters, who are now 12 & 16. so, yea we shared like one bedroom so it was hectic. but we got thru the awkwardness and we could njot be any closer today if we tried.

When we argued, boy, did we argue, fist fights the lot...when we got on it was all 'when we are older we will open our own sweet shop' and we would plan it down to the ground, play for hours, sigh, what good times we had..now? we are both in our forties, live totally opposite end of the life spectrum, she has her own very successful business, big house, plays golf (yawn) villa in spain blah blah, I live in a council house caring for disabled hubby, not a brass farthing to rub to together but we get on so well, both content in our shells I guess, she is my big sis and I love her, glad I got her and enjoy her company more now than I ever did when I was a child. Even more close since our beloved dad died...now we share memories of him together too. Yeah, my big sis is the best and I love her to bits.

Argue. I was younger so she hated that I followed her around! That I didn't have to fight to go to the school disco, cos she was there, our mum just said yes to me, she fought for a year to be allowed go.
So we didn't become friends until she had a baby and needed a baby sitter!
(p.s. your photo is impressive!)

I have two younger sisters and we fought a lot. They still treat me pretty crappy--but everytime they come running I'm there with open arms. They're family.....just the way things work.
