okay, i had many photos in my computer. i encrypted them u know "right click> properties> advanced attributes> encrypt content to secure data". then i reinstalled windows xp and now i cant open them because "access denied!"
please help me!

That's because when you reinstalled, you did put your name, as the administrator, but different from the one you had for your encrypted file. I think you are SOL.

The difference can be minimal, such as a space. For e.g., John Smith would have JohnS, John s, John S etc... All this makes a difference. You should have been careful when installing it. Boooohoooo.

You can try this: If you remember what your name was (not being funny), then re-install and retype your name exactly. No promise, but it will work. It should have the same admin password as before as well. If you forgot, then your'e SOL, sorry.

Another way: restart your computer with the CD, (change BIOS if necessary to start from CD drive), it will load repair module. Press 'R' and go from there for prompts. But I do not hold too much hope on this procedure.

unless you had a backup of your encryption key for windows before you reinstalled, i'd say you are SOL. sorry.
