They seem to react in violent ways. They are threatening the pope in such a way........Isn't he allowed to speak his mind?? Dosen't he have this right? I see the leaders of the muslim religion as very violent uncaring people. Am I wrong??

there are violent people everywhere.. not only in the Muslim culture.. look at the US..how much senseless violence goes on here everyday? people kill for no reason except just to do it. no, i am not Muslim but i think that they are just like every other culture, i am a Christian and we sometimes are characterized as crazy because of some of us.. you cannot judge an entire culture on the ones that make the news for doing bad things...
Have you ever noticed how our justice system works??? a woman can drown her children in a bathtub and not go to jail? Is that justice??? I think not...

They believe they are following their religion. They don't see that the Koran was written almost 1400 years ago and such teaching and law is outmoded and want to pursue it as fervently today as they did then. Violence was in response to the Middle East being overrun by invaders..true invaders, not like the people trying to do business with them today. They perceive the West is only there to buy up the resources cheaply and that we want to spread our ways of life and ruin theirs.

Maybe they realize that violence is the only language that western culture understands....check your history books...when civilizations approached western cultures peacefully they were slaughtered and exploited...nothing much has changed except maybe some cultures have decided to respond in kind...many of these expiditions of conquest were condoned by the catholic church (namely, the pope)...the church was almost soley responsible for the destruction of cultures all over the world with their intolerance toward various cultural beliefs, and their condoning the destruction of these cultures "in the name of god"....this is why many (who are not caught up in the affects of imperialism) have very little tolerance for their take on things...the problem that most European cultures have with muslim culture is that it teaches you to defend yourself and not "turn the other cheek"....they refuse to be bullied by western culture who have made it their custom to impose their will on others by force...the bottom line is Muslim culture is not european culture and the fact that they do things differently is not a crime that needs to be addressed by European beliefs
