3 was so awful and shallow, and horribly acted with emaciated actors, it drug the first 2 films down to a completely different level.

In general most people like the middle of stories.
lord of the rings two towers. star wars episode 2. and thus xmen 2. Why, the first movie spends time on introduction. After seeing the introduction once you do not want to see it again. The last movie in a trilogy, finalizes the story and ends our expectations outside of our own imagination. But the middle, the second installment of most trilogies is the best because you know what is going on, so no introduction is needed but you can anticipate more when it is done.
I would say X2 as well. But not because it was the best as much as, my aforementioned point about storytelling in trilogies.

I would have to say 2 was the best. They did a great job with the nightcrawler character. 3 had way too many character flaws in it and the story line was medeocre. The first one was good also but not as good as the second.

the best is X-Men 2000 (1st)
the worst is X-Men: The Last Stand (3rd)
For me, X-Men 2000 is an ideal balance between intriguing characters, spectacular special effects, and ultra-cool comic book style...
But when comes to finale..its a disappointment! Its action-packed but lacks that certain mutant angst.

I enjoyed 2 the most cuz it was most true to comics....1&3 were both good in their own way. I'm just glad to see better than average comics movies so no worst. MAAAAAARVEL

I liked X men 3 much better than the other two because I have seen the cartoon also so it matches the story line

Do I have to pick? I think they all were pretty bad, they could have been a lot better. But if I have to pick I would say 1 because it made scenes the rest of them didn't make a lick of scenes.
