See the article of Keningston school on maitaining cleanliness on their premises:

Keeping Our School Clean

The responsibility of keeping our school clean belongs to all of us not just the custodial staff. To facilitate this we ask that all persons entering the school building remove their outside shoes while on the carpet. Students are asked to carry their outside shoes to their respective boot racks.

Inside Shoes

All students are required to have a different pair of shoes for inside the school. To save on expenses, we suggest that these be a pair of running shoes which are already required for physical education. We ask that parents DO NOT send students with shoes that make black marks on the floor. They leave a mess and it’s very time consuming to clean.

Gym Shoes

Our gym floor has been freshly resurfaced. To maintain the life of the floor and prevent damage only clean non-marking shoes may be worn in the gym. Because students are highly physically active in their gym classes a good pair of running shoes that supports their ankles is suggested. Please ensure they have non-marking soles.

Cleanliness of Grounds

Students are requested to use the several garbage bins that are placed by the doors and the baseball diamonds to deposit their papers or uneaten food items. This helps keep our grounds in the same high standard of cleanliness as the remainder of the community. Students who find broken glass or other strange and dangerous looking objects should not touch them but report these to the supervisor.

Caring for our School

To help maintain the quality of life and education at Kensington, we ask everyone to accept responsibility for the care and maintenance of school property. We ask children to enter and leave by the back entrances. Upon entering the building, we ask students to remove their outdoor shoes and carry them to their boot racks . When it is more convenient for children to leave via the front doors, we ask them to carry their boots to the front entrance before putting them on.

Recycling

We encourage parents, students and staff to use re-usable containers for lunches and to recycle juice boxes and plastics. We also encourage students to take home any left-over lunches to avoid waste. To help keep our school clean, students are asked to refrain from chewing gum and sunflower seeds at school.

Damage to School Property

From time to time the school’s fixtures and/or equipment are damaged by students either intentionally or unintentionally. In all cases of damage, students (and their parents if need be) are expected to pay for the damage incurred. The cost of damage to school property or lost books will be based on the replacement costs.
