I'm sorry to hear your niece is going through problems. I can't think of any songs that would reflect feeling unappreciated or unnoticed. BUT, why not think about letting her listen to songs that will uplift her instead of reflecting and reinforcing how she feels. I'd recommend "I believe I can fly", there's a fabulous country song called "Bring on the Rain" that talks about being able to face difficult times. I think the artist is Jo Dee Messina

Queensryche, "Silent Lucidity" from the album Empire.
If you want faster rock, Rush's last album Vapor Trails, has some songs dealing with death and the frustrations and confusion it brings, as well as the hope of coming out of that depression.
Folk music, like John Denver also has a few songs concerning death.
My sympathy to the one who needs it.

I have been through a lot of things in my life including the death of both of my parents and music is very important to me. What I really like to listen to when im feeling down is Savage Garden "Crash and Burn" and alot of their stuff. And U2 "kite" and B4-4
