I always wonder if my divorce would have been easier to deal with if my ex and I were honest with each other and tried to work things out with counseling before deciding to end our marriage. Instead he chose the cowardly way out - having an affair. It almost destroyed me. Would it have been easier if we did it the other way? Could we have still remained friends?

Even if there isn't an affair, it's very rare that couples can maintain a friendship after they decide to end their marriage. There are just too many emotions involved and somebody always ends up hurt. Stop torturing yourself honey, divorce is never an easy thing.

i got a divorce 2 years ago. for me it was just about finally getting out of a marriage i just didnt want anymore. Im very lucky it was a friendly divorce. my ex also cheated on me. it just wasnt worth the energy to get bitter about it. we tried the counseling thing but i just wasnt really into rewarding the jerk for cheating.

Im cuoious why you would want to be friends with someone that treated you in such a manner. i have to be nice because my ex and i have a kid together.

divorces are far to easy to come these days. Well if it don't work out we can always get a divorce. Unless there is physical or mental abuse, I think it should be worked out.

me and my ex are like best friends and we share a child together. yes he did nothing but cheat on me the whole tiem but every divorce is different. we talked about it be fore we div. and came to several agreements which still to this day stand . it just depends on how mature you are willing to be and how much pride you are willing to put aside for the sake of your family and then yourself

If he had an affair and wasn't open an honest about it, I'd guess he wasn't looking to end your relationship...
