I think India is more power full and trustworthy ally for America. Pakistan indeed has done a lot in the war against terrorism but i think the state is not power full enough to take the challenges. First of all the dictatorship is preferred on Democracy in every era of government. Pakistan has lost its one part which is now present as Bangladesh that shows there inability to survive in the modern era. The mightiness and large ground map of India plus there democracy is the golden key to every rusted lock.

A closer ally to the US would be India. Pakistan has a rocky relationship with us, but they are trying to help in the war on terrorism. India is a closer trading partner and a country we have outsourced a lot of industry to. Pakistan is primarily Moslem and has many radical Islamic schools. India has a Hindu majority and a more modern army

Why does it have to be "either, or?" Why not both? We've been friendly with India longer than with Pakistan, however, Pakistan has shown to be cooperative with the USA since 9/11. India is friendly with our arch-enemy, China, and recently their politicians were caught in corrupt kickbacks. Yes, many politicians do it. Logic tells us that India has the stronger army because they have the larger population and stronger economy than Pakistan. They've got our jobs now so they're doing much better today than before George W. Bush became president.

I am going to say India. They have long-term goals that are sympatico to the US position.

Plus, they have been friends of the US for many, many years. The population there also doesn't hate us as Pakistan's do.

We are allied with Pakistan out of necessity, not because we want to be.

Neither are either good allies nor especially friendly. They can not afford a sustained war because they lack a sound economy and their leadership is corrupt.
